Paramount Pictures has purchased the rights to "The Partridge Family" with an eye toward adapting the hit ABC series for the big screen.
The studio optioned the rights from TV writer and playwright Bernard Slade, who created the original series.
Shirley Jones and her stepson David Cassidy starred in the 1970- 74 series about suburban widow forming a pop band with her kids.
